Helen Spence, a member of Makara Morris based at Wansford near Driffield takes part in the wassail at Side Oven Bakery and orchards at Carr House Farm, Foston on the Wolds in East Yorkshire. A Wassail is the blessing of the fruit trees in hope of a bountiful harvest in Autumn. Wassail is Anglo Saxon from Old Norse ‘ves heill’ meaning ‘be in good health’.. Photograph by Tony Johnson. 26
