Date: 109th November 2022. Picture James Hardisty. RAF Fylingdales are celebrating 30 years of giant pyramid at North York Moors site. The 33 metre tall Solid State Phased Array Radar became operational in October 1992, after the iconic Golf Balls were removed, the main purpose of the base in to serve as an early warning Ballistic Missile Defense System.
