Date: 19th October 2021. Picture James Hardisty. The first Yorktoberfest to be held at York Race Course. This week will see York set to follow the traditions of the first Oktoberfest staged in Munich in 1810 where the citizens were encouraged to eat, drink and be merry at the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and his princess bride. So much fun was had that an annual tradition was born.
