Preston Town Hall, March 7, 1945 Royal visit to Preston. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth about to depart from the Town Hall. Also seen with the Royal party are the Mayor, James Edward Gee and the Mayoress, Mrs. E. M. Gee. Note the S sign attached to the gas lamp on the corner of Cheapside. This indicated both the direction and distance to the nearest air raid shelter.
