Wigan youngsters I m not sure about the bearded gent set off from Wigan town centre on the Round the Beacons sponsored charity walk on Sunday 19th of May 1974. I took part myself on the walk on the 4th of May 1969 which was 24 miles long and involved hiking around Billinge beacon to Ashurst beacon and Parbold beacon back to Wigan Rugby Union Club via Standish.
