Layton Station opened ioriginally as Bispham Station in 1867. This photograph was taken in 1989 when a government improvement programme for Lancashire stations revealed plans to raise the height of the platform to help elderly and disabled passengers. The ticket office closed here on 30th May 1994 despite protests and a petition from passengers. Blackpool historical
