Description
The new Layton Institute opened on the 9th March 1926 at a site on Westcliffe Drive opposite the old club. The cost of the new building was £10,000. The president of the club, Mr John Whittaker opened the new building and in his welcoming speech gave credit to the gentlemen who used to meet in the Layton tram shelter who thought it would be nice to have a room to meet in.
