Police investigating the Payroll Murders at Logan Cottage where the bodies were found in January 1985. Soldiers Major David Cunningham, Sergeant Terence Hosker, and Private John Thomson, were taking 19,000 pounds for soldiers pay from a Penicuik bank to Glencorse Barracks, when they were shot with a sub-machine gun near Flotterstone Burn.
