Description
The Mound proved so hazardous in bad weather to drivers that in 1959 it was decided to lay an electric blanket under the tarmac. Here engineers with two different types of mesh and wiring which were used in an experiment before one was laid. The scheme proved less than satisfactory and a few years later was unplugged.
